On the 18th of October Celina and I went to the pumpkin farm with several classes of the special-needs-primary-school. We started at 8 in the morning and took the packed tram to get there.

Celina and I each got assigned a child to watch out for, it was an interesting experience to guide a class of small, active children through town, but eventually we arrived well and started with a quick presentation about different kinds of pumpkins and what they are used for. Everyone even got a little pumpkin as a gift.

We continued the field trip with a guided tour through the farm. We got to see the statue of a cow, where the children could to practice melking a cow, we also fed rabbits with vegetables and we saw – and even pettet – the goats.

After the tour we took a break, relaxed and ate breakfast. Celina and I enjoyed warm tea and the sun, which slowly started to heat up the cold and misty weather of the beginning of fall.

After a proper break, the play time started. The biggest attraction of the park was definitely the hay labyrinth. After exploring everything together, the children started playing in groups, most of them in the labyrinth, with the pumps or the big trampoline. It was great to see the children play, we joined them and watched out for a few children in particular. Celina spent most of the time with the boy she got assigned at the beginning, I felt comfortable letting “my child” play freely, so that I got to spend time with different children. An interesting experience was spending the last half an hour with a relatively nonverbal child from Belarus, who also didn’t understand polish. We played a little without any words, but we still had a good time. After gathering and getting all children ready, we ended the field trip with group pictures. For the way back we took the tram again, so that we arrived at the school about 13 o’clock.
